Rubato's G nib bundle was created with the goal of avoiding railroading, providing consistent ink flow. It was made particularly with penmanship in mind, both for fountain pens and dip pens.
The crucial improvement made with the Rubato pen is two reservoirs on a single nib. The main benefit of this is increasing the rate and consistency of ink flow.
The disappointment FP users frequently associate with flex nibs is often the issue of railroading, an issue that occurs when ink doesn’t collect in the nib and creates characteristic railroad like empty strokes. Some use ebonite feeders for their hydrophilic effect.
Now, such fancy feeders aren’t really necessary. Eyedroppers works great, as well as cartridges for EDC.
Below is the result with a Hunt 101 installed. The most flexible dip nib available. It comes in bronze coated steel and is thinner than a G nib, producing thinner hairlines as well. Blue pumpkin nibs are also compatible, work similarly and have great flow.
